Well, that was quite the statement.

The West Genesee defense held the Fayetteville-Manlius offense (who was averaging 50 points per game) to just 14 first half points in a 44-14 rout in Camillus.

With the win, West Genesee improves to 4-0 on the season, its first 4-0 start since 2008 when the 'Cats appeared in the Section III Championship game.

The game was a back and forth affair early, with F-M actually taking a 14-13 lead in the 2nd quarter on a Sean Bright touchdown run.

But that was the last score of the game for the Hornets.

West Genesee rode 405 passing yards from Matt Naton and scored 31 unanswered points to drop F-M to a 2-2 record by a score 44-14.

Wildcat confidence is at an all-time high, but if this week was a big test, then so is next week when the undefeated Wildcats travel to Pelcher-Arcaro Stadium in Baldwinsville to take on the 3-1 Bees.
