East Syracuse-Minoa has had its fair share of troubles with the New Hartford Spartans the past few years. ES-M has been eliminated by New Hartford three out of the last four years in the sectional playoffs. Whether that was on the ES-M Spartans' minds or not is unclear, but ES-M avenged those losses in a way trouncing its rival 56-6 at ES-M High School.
ES-M scored early and often, it started when Jeffrey McDuffie broke free on a 75 yard touchdown run in the 1st quarter, ES-M held New Hartford and on the ensuing posession ES-M scored on a 63 yard touchdown pass from Tyler Johnson to Bobby Campese making the score 14-0.
After the Spartans led 29-0 at the half, McDuffie took the kickoff back 76 yards for a touchdown. He also rushed for 112 yards on just six attempts. Tyler Johnson was on fire, tossing five touchdowns on just 11 pass attempts. Campese also had two scores.
ES-M is now 5-0 on the season, and faces a formidable challenge in the Jamesville-Dewitt Red Rams next Friday. J-D is enjoying a banner year, and will host the Spartans at 4:30 next Friday.
