It'll be a super showdown on Friday night in our Toyota High School Game of the Week when Chittenango (6-0) hosts Cazenovia (6-0) at 7 p.m. It's an old Tri-Valley League rivalry renewed, and the two schools who are just separated by about 10 minutes of pavement on State Route 13 are ready to battle for Class B regular season supremacy.
Chittenango's community has really gotten behind this team, senior Greg Phelps says students and fans are "hooting and hollering all the time for us". This game will obviously not end either teams' season, they're both safely in the playoffs but it does serve as a measuring stick or a "gut check" so to speak that will help both teams down the line in the Class B playoffs.
In Class AA both CBA and West Genesee are perfect but on Tuesday night the focus for fans of those schools was on the soccer field. The West Genesee boys disposed of Henninger 5-1, a timely goal from Stefanos Stamoulacatos helped the 'Cats pull away. Simultaneously the Wildcats Volleyball team was defeating Corcoran 3-1. In girls soccer, CBA fell in a battle of titans to Jamesville-Dewitt 7-1, and ES-M beat Phoenix 10-0.
