Shannon Albright has a big responsibility for the 10-0 Baldwinsville girls volleyball team. She's the setter for the Bees, the position that sets up teammates for those powerful spikes. Albright is one of the best at her position in Section III, averaging an outstanding eight and half assists per game, good for second in the area. The senior captain is responsible for calling out the plays for the Bees and setting up her team's defense, a role she embraces.
"I know how to be pretty confident when I make my calls," says Albright, "and I have a lot of confidence in my teammates."
Bees coach Mary Jo Cerqua says the relationship between the setter and coach is the most important on the team, and she has all the confidence in the world in Albright.
"Shannon is real calm and composed on the court at all times," Cerqua says. "She has a really nice demeanor about her, She gets everybody under control out there and distributes the ball extremely well."
Albright says she wants to play club volleyball in college wherever she goes, where she want to study to be a pharmacist. Congratulations to Shannon Albright, this week's CNY Central Athlete.
