Just as the SU Football team had seemingly reached the low point of their season, coming off three straight losses, there could be more bad news. Sources close to the team have revealed to the Post-Standard that junior safety Phillip Thomas has been suspended.

SU Athletics could not confirm the suspension as of late Thursday afternoon, but the loss of Thomas for the final two games would be a big hit to the program. Thomas' 82 tackles in 10 games leads the team, and his 6 interceptions leads the entire Big East Conference. The Orange, who are on their bye week, have two more games left against Cincinnati and Pittsburgh and need one more victory to make themselves Bowl eligible. CNYCentral will have more information as it becomes available.
