Henninger closed out its own Peppino's Invitational Tournament with a win that its players, coaches and fans won't soon forget.
The Black Knights rolled past a storied CBA team 62-32 on Saturday, led by a 21-point effort from junior Tommie Spinner. CBA center Dylan Haines led the Brothers with 9 points. The Brothers don't get much rest, they take on Bishop Ludden at the Carrier Dome on Sunday night.
Earlier at Henninger, a remarkable win streak came to an end. Bishop Grimes beat New York Mills 86-70, and in the process ended the Marauders 50-game win streak over Section III opponents. John Carnegie, who threw down a thunderous dunk for Grimes led all scorers with 23 points.
Earlier in the day at Henninger Cortland defeated Skaneateles 63-36 and LaFayette defeated Onondaga 47-40.
In out-of-state action Jamesville-Dewitt took on the storied DeMatha Catholic team but fell in a 83-57 defeat. DaJuan Coleman and Tyler Cavanaugh each scored 19 points but were in major foul trouble the entire contest. While most Central New Yorkers know Coleman is SU bound, they didn't realize that DeMatha has an SU-bound star as well. Jerami Grant scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the game.
