In the final "Super Tuesday" of high school basketball before playoffs begin, the celebration was on at Henninger and Bishop Ludden.
Henninger's league title came with ease, by way of a 50 point victory over Central Square. Kavon DeLee scored 9 points, Marquis Young scored 15 points, including a thunderous alley-oop in the victory. Henninger, the defending Section III champion looks to make it back to back titles, potentially earning a #1 seed.
Meanwhile, Bishop Ludden was clinching a league championship but in a hard fought win over a rival. Ludden outlasted Bishop Grimes 75-60, after trailing by one at halftime. Ben Hackett led the way with 28 points and Daniel Kaigler rocked the crowd with fantastic dunks as Ludden wrapped up league play at a perfect 15-0.
A league title may not have been on the line in Solvay tonight, but the atmopshere and finish to the game sure made it feel that way. The Bearcats hosted Jordan-Elbridge, and trailed by two with 30 seconds left but there was one problem; Jordan-Elbridge had the ball. However, with 15 seconds left the Eagles were called for a traveling violation which gave Solvay one last chance. That last chance would be a good look from just under the rim, but J-E's Colyn Hanley ended the game when he swatted the shot attempt away at the buzzer, sealing a win for J-E.
