Several Cinderella stories in the boys high school basketball playoffs in Section III came to an end on Sunday, but not for a lack of effort.

In Class B, the big surprise was Vernon-Verona-Sherrill the 15th seed made it all the way to the semifinals! In the end though, their run to the championship game fell just short as Bishop Grimes knocked off the Devils 63-58. Gai Ater scored 20 and Casey Evans netted 17 points for the Cobras, who now have a rivalry game for the Class B Championship.

That's because top-seeded Bishop Ludden took out another Cinderella team, 12th seeded Marcellus 65-33 on Wednesday. The win sets up a Class B title game between the Cobras and the Gaelic Knights next week.

In Class A, Cortland survived to advance by defeating Mexico by 11.

Here's a look at some other scores from around Section III:

NY Mills 66, Cincinnatus 50

Sackets Harbor 70, Lyme 52

Poland 43, Otselic Valley 41

Girls Scores:

Westhill 56, Bishop Ludden 45

Cortland 43, New Hartford 45
