Section Three Hoopsters Earn Spot in Title Games

Elite Section III teams have been working towards winning Section III Championships all year, but the only way they could even have a chance is if they won Thursday night's semifinal games.

Future SU star Dajuan Coleman, who is on a mission to end his high school career off right, scored 31 points against a tough New Hardford team as Jamesville-DeWitt advanced to the Class A Section III Championship game with a 62-44 win. Tyler Cavanaugh contributed 22 for the 18-2 Red Rams who will now play Cortland for all the Section III marbles.

Henninger was given all they could handle in their semifinal game, including 17 points from Fayetteville-Manleus' Tomer Nesher, but the Black Knights prevailed 54-49. Kavon Delee led the way for Henninger with 16 points, while Tevin Chisholm added 11.

The C-NS Northstars had their season come as Utica Proctor won a nail bitter 71-68 in overtime. The Northstars had three players in double figures, including Vaughndell Brantley and Andrew johnson who finished wit 16 points each. Lavoy Leggett led the way for Utica Proctor with 24 points.

In other boys action on Wedneday night Cooperstown beat the Syracuse Academy of Science 78-56.

In girls semifinal action, the J-D Red Rams beat Carthage 53-30, while Fabius-Pompey defeated Cooperstown 51-42.
