National Signing Day may have passed, but the Syracuse University Men's Basketball team isn't done adding talent.

Michael Gbinije has transferred from Duke, and has given his verbal commitment to play for Jim Boeheim and the Orange.

Gbinije is 6'7" and can play either the shooting guard or small forward position.  The thought of him at the top of the 2-3 zone with 6'5" Michael Carter-Williams has Orange fans dreaming of defensive dominance.

Gbinije played sparingly in his freshman season at Duke, averaging 1.7 points per game in 19 contests. Towards the end of the season his minutes faded and Gbinije, while not holding any ill will according to Mike Waters of the Post-Standard.

Gbinije will have to sit out the upcoming season, as per NCAA transfer rules, meaning he can't see regular season game action until the 2013-2014  season. Coincidentally, that will be the year that, most likely, SU joins the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Here is SU Athletics' Release on Gbinije's transfer:

Michael Gbinije, a freshman at Duke, has announced his decision to transfer to Syracuse University and play basketball, according to Orange head coach Jim Boeheim. Gbinije will sit out next season as a transfer but then have three years of eligibility.

A 6-7 swingman from Benedictine High School in Virginia, Gbinije was coached by Syracuse assistant coach Adrian Autry AAU basketball several years ago. Bginife played with Triple Threat and Team Takeover. Gbinije averaged 25.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game as a senior at Benedictine and helped his squad to a 26-5 record. He was selected to play in the 2011 Jordan Brand Classic All-America game, a contest that also featured current SU players Rakeem Christmas and Michael Carter-Williams.

Gbinije also played in the 2010 Nike Global Challenge with SU freshman Trevor Cooney.

He played in 19 games as a freshman at Duke, averaging 1.7 points per game.
