The Syracuse women's lacrosse team has almost become a regular in the NCAA quarterfinals, advancing this year to face # 5 North Carolina, the 5th time since 2007 that the Orange have played in the elite eight. For the Seniors and Juniors it's a chance to work off the excitement they remember from 2010 when they advanced to the Final Four and fell just short of the title game.
"During that time, it was a really exciting feeling," says senior Janelle Stegeland ,"I think we know what it feels like to get to that level and play with those teams. As a sophomore when we were there it was one of the most exciting experiences I've ever had."
The freshman and sophomores are getting their first ever taste of the NCAA Tournament, and they do not want the ride to end anytime soon.
"I remember freshman year, stepping onto the field, especially in the semifinal game, just being really nervous," recalls junior Linley Block. "I think this year we are really prepared and we know what's like to have that feeling. I hope all the upperclassmen on the team that knows what that feeling is like can help comfort the underclassmen and make them feel really comfortable in this game."
The Orange take on North Carolina, with a trip to the Final Four on the line, this Saturday at the Carrier Dome starting at 1 PM.
