The Orange women are going back to the Final Four after a 17-16 victory against North Carolina before 815 fans in the Carrier Dome. Fourth-seeded Syracuse (18-3 overall) fought back from a two goal deficit to beat the fifth-seeded Tar Heels (15-4) to earn the program's third trip to the national semifinals in the last five years. Syracuse will play top-seeded Florida on Friday, May 25 in Stony Brook, N.Y. The Orange beat the Gators, 12-11, in two overtimes in the fourth game of the season.
Junior Michelle Tumolo accounted for two of SU's last three goals and assisted on the third. The Tewaarton Trophy finalist scored the game-winner with five seconds remaining in the game after she assisted on Kailia Kempney's goal that tied the score at 16 with 39 seconds left to play. The Mullica Hill, N.J. native accounted for four goals and one assist in the game, increasing her season totals to 48 goals and 41 assists.
