The Jamesville-Dewitt Red Rams boys lacrosse team had beaten Irondequoit for two straight seasons in the State playoffs, but were unable to pull it off for a third time on Wednesday night. It was Irondequoit knocking off the Section III champion Red Rams with an 8-5 State semifinal victory. McLaren Brady led the way for J-D with 2 goals in a losing cause, while Deke Burns contributed with 1 goal and Jordan Evans has 2 assists.
The Homer boys lacrosse team had become known for their comebacks this season, but they weren't quite able to pull one off against Penn Yan in their State Semifinal. The Section III champions found themselves trailing 6-1 after just one quarter but did not give up, getting themselves back to within one in the 4th quarter, but ultimately losing 10-8. Sean Ferrito led the Homer squad with two goals, while Brandon Maxson scored a goal and two assists. Penn Yan advances to play Shorham-Wading River in the Class C State Title Game this Saturday.
Section IV'S Ithaca broke a 7-7 tie when Jamie Henderson found the back of the net in the second half, and they never looked back en route to a 11-9 win, advancing to the Class A State title game.
