SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse football team will begin another season looking to prove the media wrong, after being picked to finish seventh in the Big East Conference in the media poll released at Big East Media Day.
The Louisville Cardinals were picked to finish first by the 28 media members who take the poll, followed by South Florida, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Syracuse and Temple.
"Some people call this one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country," said head coach Doug Marrone of SU's schedule. "We understand those challenges. We are excited about them. It creates a great opportunity for us at Syracuse University. We are happy to get better and we are looking forward to doing it."
The Orange finished with a 1-6 record in Conference play last season, putting them out of bowl contention, after finishing 8-5 overall in 2010 and capping the season off with a Pinstripe Bowl Victory.
This will be SU Football's final season in the Big East, slated to officially join the Atlantic Coast Conference next season.
