It was a wild 13 minute ride at the 5000 meter run at the Olympics for fans of Lopez Lomong, and the outcome wasn't certain until the home stretch.

While the hometown London crowd cheered on Mo Farah to a gold medal, the home crowd of Lopez Lomong gathered at the high school auditorium in Tully, hoping he could win his first Olympic medal.

The crowd roared when Lomong took the lead four minutes in, and absolutely erupted when he charged to the front of the pack with just over a lap to go but in the end Lomong fell back in the pack and placed 10th out of 15 runners.

Still though, the community is so proud to call Lomong "one of our own" and as one fan at Tully yelled after the run "He's still the 10th best runner in the world".

Not too bad, not too bad at all.
