Poll: Will you go to the Pinstripe Bowl?
Orange fans were sweating for a bit on Sunday afternoon, thinking Syracuse football would be relegated to a bowl in Birmingham, Alabama a week after New Year's.
But remember, Syracuse IS New York's College team.
With that said, The Orange officially accepted an invitation to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, to be played on Saturday December 29th at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. SU's opponent, West Virginia is certainly no stranger to the Orange. SU and the Mountaineers have played every single season since 1955 and a rivalry once thought to be done since the Mountaineers moved to the Big 12 is suddenly renewed.
It's not immediately clear whether the Schwartzwalder Trophy will be on the line, the stakes in the annual SU/WVU matchup, but regardless of that Head Coach Doug Marrone is excited to play in the Pinstripe Bowl.
"It means a great deal to us to play a bowl game in Yankee Stadium where many of our alumni and fans will have the opportunity to share it with us. New York State is the foundation of our program. I am proud of this team for the way it fought through early-season adversity to win five of the last six games and win a share of the BIG EAST championship. It is great for our team, and particularly our seniors, to have the chance to play one more game. This senior class has given so much to our program on and off the field and will be great ambassadors for our program and University." said Marrone on SUAthletics.com

Syracuse completed the 2012 season as co-Big East champions with 5-2 conference record and a 7-5 mark overall.
