The BIG EAST has named James Southerland as their conference player of the week. Southerland's honor come after a career high 35 point performance in Syracuse’s SEC-BIG EAST Challenge victory against Arkansas Friday.

James was 12-17 from the field and 9-13 behind the arc in the 91-82 Orange win.

His nine 3-pointers ties Gerry McNamara’s school record set back in 2004. Andy Rautins later tied that record in 2008.

Southerland leads the BIG EAST in 3-pointers per game (3.6) and is sixth in the conference in scoring (19.2 PPG)

Syracuse is in action tonight in the Carrier Dome, against Eastern Michigan, coached by former assistant coach Rob Murphy.

Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
