Syracuse Head Football Coach Doug Marrone confirmed on Wednesday that linebacker Marquis Spruill and running back Steve Rene are both eligible to play in the Pinstripe Bowl December 29th at Yankee Stadium. It was a topic Marrone would rather not have had to address after a morning press conference in New York City previewing the upcoming Bowl game at Yankee Stadium. According to SU Football's Post Standard Beat writer Nolan Weidner, Marrone would not confirm whether or not Spruill or Rene would actually play against West Virginia, or even be in uniform.

"Obviously we're disappointed in the behavior of both our players," said Marrone, "I'll handle it all internally."

Spruill was charged with disorderly conduct and second-degree assault early Sunday morning for allegedly grabbing a police officer when he was dealing with an altercation that involved Rene. After being arrested Spruill reportedly kicked open the door of a police vehicle, nearly striking an officer. Rene was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Both player appeared to be intoxicated, according to police.
