The Syracuse Orange basketball team didn't quite look like the 7th ranked team in the country in the first half of Wednesday night's game, but got stronger down the stretch to beat Providence 72-66. Syracuse rallied back from a nine-point deficit in the first half, led by C.J. Fair's 23 points and 11 rebounds, as well as a strong 17 points and 6 assists from Michael Carter-Williams.

Providence, who wasn't a strong shooting team heading into the game, was fifty percent from three-point range, hitting 9 three pointers overall, including 5 from Bryce Cotton who led the Friars with 24 points in a losing cause. Syracuse made just 3 of 21 attempts from three-point range.

Rakeem Christmas contributed for the Orange with a career high 15 points and eight rebounds. It's the fifth consecutive win for Syracuse since losing to Temple in New York City just before Christmas.

The Orange will return to the Carrier Dome this Saturday to host Villanova at noon.
