On paper, perhaps, Georgetown should beat Syracuse.
They won at the Carrier Dome two weeks ago and they're 11-1 in their last 12 games while Syracuse is 6-6.
But if the past 34 seasons have taught us anything, it's to expect the unexpected in this rivalry.
That's why this game can go either way.
The players know what's on the line, they know that while it may just be one game in the regular season, it's meaning goes well beyond that.
Overall, Syracuse leads the series 48-40 but certainly, this being the last game in that long history, whoever wins has the last memory of all the fans of being the victorious team.
When we talked to players after the DePaul game, none of them dodged the question. Usually, media savvy players will say "it's just as important as the rest" or something along those lines when asked if they want payback or revenge against a team.
Not on this night.
Every player we spoke with. James Southerland, Brandon Triche, Michael Carter-Williams,and CJ Fair all said they wanted redemption.
They said it in their own words, but the end result was the same, they remember those 35,000 screaming fans. They remember Carmelo Anthony gracing them with his presence.
And they remember the feeling of losing a game with all of that going on.
Syracuse is the underdog by 1.5 points, according to USA Today's odds and yes the game may be that close.
But it may not be the Orange who is the underdog when it's all said and done.
