The Syracuse 2-3 zone has been a staple of head coach Jim Boeheim for decades, and while the Hall of Fame coach never comes out of it, regardless of the opponent, it still adapts to every opponent SU plays.
In the past, good shooting teams have had success from three-point range against the defense, and with Montana shooting 47 percent from the field this season the Orange are preparing for their efficient offense.
"They're a good, well balanced, basketball team," head coach Jim Boeheim says. "They move the ball really well offensively, and they shoot it from the perimeter really well."
The Orange says they will look to the forwards and centers in the paint to take advantage of the Grizzlies' size, and on defense will need to pressure Montana's guards.
"They have about four guys starting and a guy coming off the bench that can shoot really well, similar to playing Seton Hall in the Big East," SU senior Brandon Triche says. "They also have guards that can actually get to the basket, so the biggest thing for us is keeping their guys in front of us, I think we'll be fine."
