Scott Shafer and his staff at Syracuse University contine to tear up the recruiting trail.

Need proof? SU has added four new verbal commitments since he Shafer took over but the first quarterback to pledge since the regime took over happens to be Mitch Kimble from Jerseyville, Illinois.

Kimble, according to several reports including  CuseNation.com (subscription needed) and The Post-Standard's Mike Cohen, made it official today, he'll be the next quarterback for the Syracuse Orange.

Cohen said on his Twitter account of Kimble "Boy, is he excited to be coming to Syracuse".

Kimble chose Syracuse over an offer from North Carolina State, a future ACC rival of the Orange. He was committed to Northern Illinois for several months before reopening his recruiting after Shafer and the Orange offered a scholarship.

Kimble, who stands at 6'3" and weighs 190 lbs. while reportedly running a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash, visited Syracuse last weekend and NC State this past weekend before making his decision.

He's the second quarterback commitment for the Class of 2013, joining Austin Wilson from Pennsylvania. Wilson pledged his services to the Orange back in May and has remained loyal ever since.
