The Syracuse Orange mens basketball team lost its first game of the season on Saturday, dropping an 83-79 decision to the Temple Owls at Madison Square Garden.

Even while the 'Cuse led 40-38 at the halftime break, most could sense that the Orange wasn't itself out there, as it couldn't contain Khalif Wyatt who scored a career high 33 points.

Syracuse (10-1), also couldn't buy a free throw making only 55% (19-34) of its shots from the charity stripe.

While C.J. Fair kept the Orange afloat with a career high 25 points, Michael Carter-Williams was only 3-14 from the field and 7-15 from the foul line which was good for 13 points.

The "Climb to 903" as ESPN has dubbed it will have to wait, as Jim Boeheim remains poised to pass Bobby Knight for 2nd all time on the wins list. Boeheim's next try at win #901 will have to wait until December 29th when SU hosts Alcorn State. If Syracuse wins straight through the milestone, Boeheim would pass Knight in the Big East opener on January 2nd against Rutgers in the Carrier Dome.

Upsetting a top-10 team is nothing new for Temple, the Owls have now done so in each of the last 5 seasons.
