The #24 Syracuse Orange womens basketball team ended its season on a high note, defeating #13 Louisville 68-57 at the Carrier Dome on Monday night.
With the win, Syracuse finishes the regular season at 23-6 and has earned a double-bye in the Big East Tournament by finishing 3rd in the conference standings---only behind #2 UConn and #3 Louisville.
The first half was very closely played with Louisville taking a 29-27 lead at the halftime break.
Syracuse though, wouldn't let this one get away.
Staring at a potential four game losing streak, the Orange fought hard and outscored Louisville 26-9 to start the 2nd half. Louisville would rally, cutting a 15-point deficit down to just four but SU was able to hold them off.
Carmen Tyson-Thomas recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Brittany Sykes scored 16.
With the win and the "double-bye" Syracuse won't have to play until Sunday night at 8:30 in the quarterfinals which will be televised on ESPNU.
Syracuse finishes the regular season at 23-6 with a record of 11-5 in Big East play. Surely, a lock for the NCAA Tournament.
