He's the most talked about backup quarterback around. His ability to make plays on his feet with blazing speed has fans wondering if he's the next great quarterback.

No. I'm not talking about Tim Tebow.

I'm talking about Ashton Broyld, the true freshman quarterback from Rochester's Rush Henrietta High School that will make his collegiate debut when Syracuse battles Northwestern on Saturday at noon.

Broyld wowed football fans the last time he took to the Carrier Dome in an official game- as he led his high school team to a Class AA State Championship and was named the New York State Player of the Year.

It seems as if Broyld will see the field, but he won't be unseating Ryan Nassib, the Orange's senior signal-caller.

Broyld has lined up just about everywhere since his arrival on campus in January. He's played a little wideout, but primarily has been in as a running back or as a wildcat quarterback. We were able to catch up with Ashton, and Syracuse Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to gain some insight on just how much Orange fans can expect to see "Slashton" as fans have dubbed him on the field on Saturday.
