The Syracuse Orange Football team's win over Connecticut on Friday in the Carrier Dome was special any way you look at it.
Whether it be the program's first win over UConn since 2006, or spoiling Paul Pasqualoni's return to Syracuse, or just, ho-hum, a 30-point win in conference play.
But the more you look at the numbers, the more excited Orange Nation must be.
Not only was the defense stellar, holding the Huskies to -6 rushing yards, but the offense was clicking on all cylinders generating over 500 yards of total offense against the #6 ranked defense in the nation.
So many games this year-- Northwestern, Minnesota, Rutgers-- SU outperformed those teams, and should've come away with victories after putting up big numbers except the turnover bug killed the Orange and led the team to defeat.
So now, seeing a complete game put together without those mistakes can only make Orange fans wonder what lies ahead. What's possible if SU is able to continue to cut down on costly mistakes.
Syracuse stands at 3-4 overall and 2-1 in Big East play with five games left in the season. However, it is a very difficult part of the schedule featuring just one home game and road dates with two of the top three teams in the Big East and an SEC foe in Missouri.
And while that stretch looks a bit daunting, on Friday, we finally saw an SU team play to its potential. Safe to say, the talent and coaching on this team could be primed to make a run here in the second half of the season and maybe....just maybe...a run at a bowl game.
Stay tuned.
