BUFFALO (NY) -- A preliminary site for a new, 72,000 seat downtown Buffalo Bills stadium was presented to the Buffalo Common Council on Tuesday, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

HKS Sports & Entertainment, a Dallas based architectural and engineering firm that designed Cowboys Stadium in Texas and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, has been hired by Greater Buffalo Sports & Entertainment Complex to design the stadium.

The price tag for the facility is estimated to be $1.4 billion and would sit on land currently owned by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority along Buffalo's outer harbor.  It would call for a retractable roof, convention center, hotel and an area for retail within the complex.
