ONONDAGA LAKE PARK -- They called it a family atmosphere, but that did not mean the crowd at First Night at Onondaga Lake Park was not diverse.

As the crowds waited for the "orange ball" to drop at midnight, they were entertained by laser tag, crafts, comedy and the ever-popular bouncy houses. An alcohol-free event, the clean atmosphere was something the families appreciated.

"It's good that there's no alcohol, and so we don't have to worry about anything like that," Tracy Auwae, who brought her kids to First Night, says. "Kids can have fun, the music's here, we had a good time last time we came so we decided to come again."

The music attracted not just families though. The headline act, R5 featuring Ross Lynch from the Disney Channel show "Austin and Ally", attracted dozens of teenyboppers, each excited to see their idols.
