Two Syracuse common councilors want the city to join a national movement called the "Ban the Box."

They're proposing a law that would prohibit private employers from asking criminal histories on job applications.

They say it would keep a prospective employee from being automatically rejected. But many business owners are fuming about the idea.

Jim Kenyon joined Megan and Matt on NBC3 news tonight to talk about the controversial proposal.
