The Syracuse University women's basketball team seemed happy to be home on Wednesday night, coming off what could very well have been their toughest road test of the season. Brittney Sykes and Brianna Butler both scored 14 points as the 24th ranked Orange beat Seton Hall 65-34, but it was the SU defense that was the most impressive, holding the Pirates to just 34 points total. It was the second fewest points ever allowed by Syracuse in a Big East matchup.
Kayla Alexander scored 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, fresh off becoming Su's all-time leading scorer over the weekend in a loss to Villanova. Elashier Hall also pulled off a double-double with 10 points and 14 boards.
Syracuse recorded 28 points in the paint and converted 13 points off of Seton Hall's 15 turnovers. Sykes recorded a team-high five steals for SU in the triumph.
"Seton Hall is a very physical basketball team," said head coach Quentin Hillsman on SU Athletics' website, "They play a tough round of basketball. They pushed the tempo and really made plays and our players just did a very good job at responding. I thought that overall our group effort was very good."
The Orange will be in action next on Saturday when they host Providence at 1 p.m.
