NEW YORK CITY -- After losing by double digits in two previous contests, the Syracuse Orange were finally able to defeat the Georgetown Hoyas on Friday night in overtime 58 to 55.

The Orange said going into the game they wanted revenge, and did it on one of the biggest stages during the Big East Tournament in Madison Square Garden.

After a slow start, SU guard Trevor Cooney made his biggest contribution of the year, making 2 threes and grabbing 4 rebounds leading the Orange on a 13-0 run, going into the half with a 29-20 lead.

Georgetown was able to tie the game at 49 down the stretch, and the game ended up going into overtime. But, the Orange were able to outlast Georgetown in the extra period, as Baye Moussa Keita scored 13 big points and had 8 rebounds to give SU the advantage.

James Southerland continued his hot shooting, tying the all-time Big East tournament threes record with 16 threes in the last three games.

The Orange plays Louisville in the Big East Tournament finale on Saturday night at 8:30.
