SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse Sports Corporation will conducted the Winter Sports 2010 Believe to Achieve awards ceremony at Onondaga Community College on Tuesday. The awards recognize meritorious contribution to the Central New York Sports Community. The Winter 2010 award recipients include:
Individual Female Athlete Award Molly Byrne / Basketball / OCC
Individual Female Athlete Award Brittany Cohen / Basketball / OCC
Individual Male Athlete Award Ryan Michel / Hockey / West Genesee
Individual Male Athlete Award Mike Quercia / Track / Marcellus
Coach Award Mike Wheeler / Women's Basketball / OCC
Female Team Award Skaneateles Girls Volleyball
Male Team Award Westhill Boys Basketball
Excellence in Sportsmanship Award Bill Brown / Athletic Director / Jamesville-DeWitt
Believe to Achieve was founded by Gary Bugenhagen, Syracuse Sports Corporation member and former Syracuse University football player. Jeff Mickle, sports development director for the Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau states, "This initiative is an example of the depth of our sports community. The presentation of these awards marks the hard work and commitment of individuals and teams whose contributions to Central New York are immeasurable. These awards really mean something to the recipients; that is evident at the ceremony."
