VERONA -- It's hard to believe but a week from Monday (August 9) is Syracuse Football Media day and subsequently, the start of 2010 training camp.
That excites Doug Marrone.
Marrone, entering his 2nd season as the Head Coach at his alma mater was speaking with me at the Jim Boeheim Golf Classic at Turning Stone. I asked him if the thought of camp looming less than two weeks away is exciting or more of a business as usual feeling. Marrone replied "It's more of an excitement, for who we are as a program. We have a few things in place, and have done a lot to build the foundation, so I don't think we look at it as a grind, it's more of a sense to see where all the hard work paid has off this offseason."
Marrone also displayed an excitement for the 2010 season because it's the 2nd year of his culture in the Orange Program, I asked him if year two of his culture of Orange Football bodes well for the upcoming year. "I think it does, and it all starts with the attitude we've changed, or tried to change with this team. Obviously we have a lot of programs in place, our Life Skills program is something I've been out speaking publicly about but we've also added a leadership program that we've gotten our players involved in and we hope it carries over to the field"
Marrone also said that Delone Carter is not enrolled in school, and that's all he can really say about the situation at this time.
