This week's CNY Central Athlete has accomplished something that most pitchers at any level of baseball can only dream of.
Ryan O'Kane of Bishop Ludden pitched a no-hitter on Monday night. Ryan tossed 90 pitches, not yielding a single hit while the Gaelic Knights shut out their arch-rival Christian Brothers Academy 13-0.
O'Kane says the win over CBA made it extra special, but the most special part of the feat he says was how his teammates helped him out defensively the whole way.
Ludden Coach Ted Klamm says that's what makes O'Kane so special, he's quick to honor those around him rather than take credit, even though he'd be well within his right to in this instance.
The scary part for all the other baseball teams in Central New York? Ryan is just a junior, meaning they'll have to face him for nearly two more full seasons.
Congratulations to Ryan O'Kane, this week's Bryant and Stratton College CNY Central Athlete!
