The Jamesville-DeWitt boys lacrosse team hadn't lost a game all season coming into last night's State Semifinal, and they weren't planning to experience the bitter taste of defeat quite yet. In fact, they hope to avoid that phenomenon altogether now that they've made it to the Class B State Title game.
J-D earned their right to play for a championship with an impressive 9-6 win over Irondequoit on Rochester on Wednesday night, holding their opponent to just one goal in the first 3 quarters of play. Mclaren Brady scored 3 goals as the Red Rams improved to 21-0 on the season, now one win away from a perfect campaign and a State Championship.
Cazenovia is also heading to the State Title game after a 15-13 win over Silver Creek. The Lakers were leading 12-3 at halftime, but had to hold off Silver Creek in the end. Their opponent scored 3 goals in a 26 second span during the final minute, but it was too little too late. Cazenovia will join the Red Rams this Saturday at C-NS for all the "New York State Marbles".
Ithaca also won in dramatic fashion, as Joe Bucci knoched the game winning goal to take out Pittsford in double overtime.
