Poll Question: Where do you think the Orange will finish this season?
The Big East Media Poll was released on Tuesday, and Syracuse Football is ranked 4th in the Conference. This, of course is a huge jump for the program after being ranked 7th in last year's preseason poll, and last place for the 4 years prior to that. It's is the first positive news SU Football has had all week following a couple of weekend incidents that has left two player's futures with the team up in the air.
Running back Prince-Tyson Gulley was stabbed early Friday morning. He is recovering, but no word on his status with the team. Marcus Sales, meanwhile, is facing drug charges after being arrested on Friday night in a separate incident. We probably will not know either of their status' until Friday's media day at the Carrier Dome. In the meantime, Head Coach Doug Marrone says we welcomes this year's high expectations.
"We invite that expectation of our football team," says Head Coach Doug Marrone, "I'd rather sit here saying hey we're gonna gun for a conference championship, that's our goal, then saying hey we're gonna win one game this year because we haven't won one the year before. So we're excited about that, we know the responsibility and accountability that comes with it, that's what makes this fun."
"We took a great step forward in that direction this past season," says running back Antwon Bailey, "but I think it's something important that has been stessed to myself and my teamates is that last year is last year, we gotta go out here and prove ourselves."
