Poll Question: Which SU Football player would you like to see step up his game even further this season?
The Syracuse Orange are preparing for a season of big time exposure and big time plays. Picked to finish 4th in the Big East, the Orange know the only way they can meet or surpass that goal is to prepare for "big plays" on offense, plays that only winning teams tend to pull off. While losing wide receiver Marcus Sales to suspension wasn't the most ideal way to start the season after his "big play" performance in the Pinstripe Bowl, the SU Offense is gearing up to more than make up for his loss.
"It's not on me, or the receivers, but on the whole offense," explains senior quarterback Ryan Nassib, "that's something we've worked on in the summer specifically. We've got to make sure we're comfortable with it we're good with it heading into the season, so when the situation calls for big plays that coach feels comfortable calling them."
"We have a strong core of receivers," says junior wide receiver Alec Lemon, "we feel like we can go out there and play with anybody, make those big plays, those explosive plays and just get ready for the season."
And while the Orange offense expects a lot from themselves heading into the year, so does the defense. They know the expectations that the fans have on them after last year's showing, and that helps to motivate them even further.
"We're out here (with the) expectation put on us," says senior defensive end Mikhail Marinovich, "and for us as a team it's really win the Big East, or contend for the Big East, and that's really our goal. We're gonna do everything to claw and scratch and get there."
