After countless months of fundraising and hard work the Fayetteville-Manlius turf field opened up to competition on Tuesday night.

The Hornets Field Hockey team made sure there were no jinxes and the field was opened right, as they notched a 3-2 victory over Rome Free Academy.

If the team effort was opening it up right, then Lindsay Trachtenberg opened it in style, scoring a goal just about a minute into the game. RFA quickly responded with a goal 4 minutes later, but the Hornets held them off for the victory.

The football team at F-M plays its first game on September 16th against Oswego.
