Chittenango is the last team standing in Section III football.
That's because Section IV swept Section III on Saturday in the state quarterfinals in football.
Herkimer was doubled up by Waverly 26-13, Westmoreland lost by three touchdowns to Tioga and East Syracuse Minoa's dream season came to an end at the hands of Maine-Endwell 21-7.
After West Genesee fell on Friday, that leaves Chittenango in Class B as the last team standing. The Bears come back close to home, in the state semifinals next weekend when they play their game at ES-M for the right to advance to the Carrier Dome for the New York Championship game.
ES-M did score a victory in boys soccer, where the Spartans took out Massena 2-0, and with that win they head to the final four next weekend.
In Field Hockey, our local teams all advanced. Liverpool, Cazenovia, and Camden all moved on to the semifinals with wins over teams from Section V.
