WEST GENESEE -- West Genesee senior Stefanos Stamoulacatos is on his way to Germany, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Stamoulacatos is a standout soccer player for the Wildcats who was chosen as one of just 10 players to be a
part of the United States Under-19 Soccer team. The Red,White and Blue is in "Group A" in the World Championships in Germany playing against teams from Italy, Scotland, France, and Germany just to name a few.
Certainly, Central New Yorkers along with the rest of this nation always root for Team-USA but for our neck of the woods it is very special to have one of our own representing out area on Team USA. Stamoulacatos is a forward on the team and told me that USA Soccer has had its eye on him for around a year now.
No Doubt, Stefanos hopes he can help Team USA capture the title, but regardless of how things go when tournament play begins January 6th, he's already made all Central New Yorkers proud. Not only that, he is
absolutely helping to advance his career. Stamoulacatos is headed to play for SU next year and there's no question the Orange will be getting a much more seasoned player when Stefanos returns from this experience in Germany.
We'll update you at CNYCentral.com on how Stefanos and the team does in the World Championships.
