"The whole campus is buzzing about the tournament in lake placid," Kahn says.
It's not just the campus that's buzzing, across the Port City, bars are stocking up for tomorrow’s game. The Shed is one of the many bars that will be showing the game. Owner Scott Grants says there is no doubt the success of the Oswego State hockey team has been a boost to local businesses.
"Being such a big hockey town all the businesses will benefit from them going down win or lose we support them all the way," Grants says.
Oswego State is no stranger to success when it comes to the Frozen Four the Lakers have been here six times before and won the national championship in 2007. This years team has one of the best defenses in the country and is on pace to break the record for fewest goals allowed in a season.
Kahn, who covers the team for WTOP, Oswego State's TV station, says this years team has the chemistry and toughness to go all the way.
"They play really well together. They may not be putting up 12 or 13 points on games as we've seen before but they are a lot stronger and overall are a better team this year. It's provided for some really great hockey here in Oswego," Kahn says.
Oswego State plays Amherst tomorrow at the Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid. The game starts at 7:30.
If the Lakers win that game then they will play for the National Championship on Saturday.
