CORTLAND, N.Y. - Senior Erin Kollar (East Islip) scored four goals, all in the first half, and junior goalie Shauna Hutchinson (Islip Terrace/East Islip) made 11 saves as nationally second-ranked Cortland defeated 11th-ranked University of Mary Washington (Va.), 12-5, in the NCAA Div. III women's lacrosse tournament second round.

Cortland (19-1) won its 18th straight game. The Red Dragons will host either The College of New Jersey or Amherst College (Mass.) in the national quarterfinals Sunday at 1 p.m. Mary Washington ends the season with a 14-5 record.

Junior Gina Campese (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) added three goals and two assists and senior Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) scored two goals and assisted on three others for the Red Dragons. Junior Maria Di Fato (Camillus/West Genesee) finished with two goals. Hutchinson's 11 saves are one shy of her career high.

Junior Keller Torrey (Roswell, GA/Centennial) led the visiting Eagles with two goals and one assist. Senior Allie Kimmelman (Burke, VA/Robinson) scored twice and junior Kathryn Stiltz (Marietta, GA/Walton) made seven saves.

Cortland jumped out to a 4-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game. Campese scored two of those goals and assisted Kollar on the other two. Kimmelman put Mary Washington on the board with 20:05 left in the half, but the Red Dragons responded with goals by freshman Marilyn Farrell (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius), Kollar and Abbott and led 7-1 with 15:25 remaining.

Mary Washington scored three of the final four goals of the half, capped by Jenna Petrucelli's (Cranbury, NJ/Peddie School) with 3:35 left, and was within 8-4 at halftime. Di Fato and Campese tallied unassisted goals in the first six minutes of the second half to push the Red Dragons lead to 10-4 and the lead was at least five the remainder of the contest.
