SYRACUSE --

Nottingham's Anthony Harper will be the first member of his family to ever go to college. While that accomplishment is fantastic in itself, it's how he got there that's even more inspiring.

This week's Dunkin' Donuts Action News Athlete always had athletic talent, but was struggling after his sophomore year to the point where there was no way he was going to be able to get into a Division 1 football program. His coaches and his mentors at Nottingham High School, however, saw great possibilities in Harper and refused to give up on him. They worked with him tirelessly to get his grades back on track, and just a few weeks ago he signed on for a full ride with Wagner College in football.

"I'm the first in my family to be getting an opportunity like this", says Harper, "and I thank God and my family every day."

But even Harper will tell you that one of the greatest things to come out of this is the fact that he's influenced so many other, younger students at Nottingham. He loves being a role model, and stresses to never give up and create a work ethic and attitude that will get you where you want to go.

Congratulations to Anthony for his selection as our Dunkin' Donuts Action News Athlete!
