SOLVAY -- This week’s Dunkin’ Donuts Action News Athlete specializes in getting kills. Not of the sinister variety, but of the volleyball kind. Shannon Slowik is a senior captain for the Solvay Bearcats volleyball team.

She’s a true leader on the team, and a vocal one at that. Slowik says, "It's how I get everyone pumped. It's just how I roll. It gets them all going and it just makes us a better team."

Shannon is also a star in the classroom. She has made the honor roll every semester of her high school career. She says she tries to be a leader in the classroom so she can be a leader on the court as well,

“I commit to that because I know I have to commit on the court so I commit both places so I can lead my team and set an example for them."

Shannon also is a first baseman on the softball team, and will be attending LeMoyne in the fall to study dentistry.
