It's a rivalry that has a history and prestige that's hard to match in Central New York. The "Holy War" between Christian Brothers Academy and Bishop Ludden. The two Catholic school starting playing each other back in 1963, in fact, the first ever meeting between the two teams took place the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. The game still went on because Bishop Ludden was holding its court dedication. CBA Coach Buddy Wleklinski and Ludden Coach Pat Donnelly actually played against each other in the 1970's, making the rivalry all the more competitive and fun at the same time.
Each school has seen its fair share of winning streaks, currently CBA is on a bit of a hot streak against the Gaelic Knights, and that continued on Tuesday. Troy Bullock scored a team high 16 points as CBA held off Bishop Ludden in a fiercely competitive game 48-42. Ludden's Omar Osbourne wowed the crowd with an incredible follow dunk that rivaled that of a Wes Johnson throw-down and got the fans into en route to a tie at the end of the 1st quarter.
There was a city school battle in girls basketball with state-ranked Corcoran traveling to take on Henninger, the Lady Knights kept it close early on but Corcoran stormed away for a 72-30 win.
