As the Henninger Football team prepares for this week's Toyota High School Game of the Week against Utica Proctor they have some inspiration. Not just from experiencing their first win of the season in week two against Fowler, but also from rubbing shoulders with the 1990 Black Knights State Championship Team. The 20th anniversary of that accomplishment was celebrated at halftime during that week two win over Fowler, and the members of that classic team say that Henninger spirit is as vamped up as ever.

"We set the standard high here at Henninger," says Henninger's State Champion Running Back Timothy Jennings-Bey, "and that was always the goal of Coach Campese (and all the assistant coaches), even in the past with Coach Mazella, who passed away recently God rest his soul. We're like family here at Henninger as you can see by the environment. You don't realize how fast time flies, you're going through life and everybody's doing their own thing and taking care of their families, it's just a good feeling I can't even put it in words. I feel like I can run a touchdown again!!"

And while most of the members of the 1990 team prefer to watch the current Henninger team, Jennings-Bey marvels at what it would be like to take on some of those former opponents of the late 80's and early 90's. He says he'd like to take them all on again.

"It wouldn't matter, I think we could tangle with the best of them throughout Syracuse history. In fact, I think we're the best ever."
