SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse University football team is off to its best start in 11 years. As the midway point of the regular season approaches this Saturday, college football experts are starting to take notice:
ESPN has a pair of analysts that both say SU will make a bowl game. Mark Schlabach predicts the renewal of a big rivalry; SU to play Miami (FL) in the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina. Andrea Adelson from ESPN says SU is Birmingham-bound to play Mississippi State.
CBS Sportsline concurs with Adelson, sending the 'Cuse to the Birmingham Bowl where they think the Orange would meet Mississippi State, that bowl game is the second to last one to be played, as it takes place on January 8, 2011.
College Football News thinks Syracuse will play in the Liberty Bowl, where they'd meet Southern Mississippi. Syracuse played in the 1996 Liberty Bowl and defeated Houston 30-17.
As mentioned, we're not even to the midway point of the regular season, and the Orange has a tough test Saturday against Pittsburgh, but it's definitely fun to look at what could be.
My personal guess, is the same as I predicted back on September 1st, Syracuse to the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in New York City where they'll meet Missouri.
