CICERO -- Ethan Irish had to make quite an adjustment in his senior year of high school.

Ethan had attended Living Word Academy in Syracuse for the first three years of high school. But he decided to make the switch to Cicero-North Syracuse for his last year of high school.

While switching schools can be tough for many students, Ethan has had no problem fitting in, in part because of volleyball.

Ethan is an outside hitter on the Northstar volleyball team, and has an outstanding 174 kills this season.

Ethan says he's adjusted to C-NS life just fine, thanks to his teammates.

"I have great friends on the team that help me fit in and help me find friends here," Irish says. "It's actually been really easy with all the good support I have on my team."

It was an easy decision for head coach Mike Lucia to put him on the court. Lucia says from day one, Ethan has worked his hardest and earned a place on the team.

Even though this is his first and only season with the Northstars, he's considered one of the team leaders.

"He's a leader by actions and he lets his actions speak, and just naturally it lends him to a leadership role," Lucia says.

Ethan plans on playing volleyball in high school, and says Ohio State is number one on his list.

Congratulations to Ethan Irish, this week's Bryant and Stratton CNY Central Athlete!
