ITHACA -- The Cornell crowd was giddy to see the Ivy League Championship banner and Sweet 16 banner unveiled Wednesday night, but the team on the basketball court was very different that the one that earned those banners last season.

The 2010-2011 Big Red are almost literally starting from scratch with a brand new head coach and the loss of eight senior from last season. Brand new head coach Bill Courtney said he was just as nervous for Wednesday's home opener as he was for last week’s season opener in Albany.

The Big Red were able to beat Delaware on Wednesday night to improve to 2-1, another baby step towards getting back to where campus has gotten used to them being. Their former head coach Steve Donahue left in the off-season after accepting the job as Boston College’s new head coach, and while Courtney is left with a very young team, he has a plan.

“If a guys got it going, we give that guy the ball,” says Courtney, “and as we see the way they're going with the screen and roll, we'll move our guy to the basket and see if we can get some open looks, you know, just try and take advantage of whatever the defense is giving us.”
