Rome Frenzy continues to struggle

The Rome Frenzy's struggles continued today at home against an undermanned Akwasasne Warriors team. The Warriors arrived with 12 players after injuries, illness and border issues prevented them from bringing their full squad and quickly found themselves down 2-0 by the end of the first period. Kirk Bolduc got the scoring started with his first professional goal 3:35 into the game. Assists went to Vince Nucci and Tibor Varga. The Frenzy doubled their lead when Anthony Monte scored on the powerplay with just over 4 minutes left in the period. Jeff Armando and Marcus Gustafsson had assists.

The Warriors battled back in the second period scoring the next three goals. Carter Trevisani scored at 12:42 into the period with assists going to Kyle Lagrace and Chris McCarthy. Daniel Sauve tied the score at 2-2 when he scored on the power play with the assists going to Drew Baker and Martin Beaulne. The Warriors went up 3-2 when Beaulne scored an unassisted short-handed tally with less than 2 minutes left in the period. The Frenzy managed to tied it up 3-3 with 0:44 left in the period on Bolduc's second goal assisted by Nucci and Tibor Varga.

The Warriors went back into the lead 8:40 into the third when Beaulne scored his second unassisted goal of the game. The Frenzy battled back to tie it at 4-4 when Leland Fidler scored from Nucci and Varga at 11:28 of the period. The Warriors went ahead for good with just under 5 minutes remaining in the period when Kiawentonteh Swamp scored a power play goal assisted by Beaulne. The Frenzy continued to put pressure on the Warriors net until Trevisani scored an unassisted empty-net goal with 4 seconds remaining.

The Frenzy out shot the Warriors 59 to 30 for the game. Shane Davis had 25 saves in the loss while Nicholas Filion had 55 saves and got the win.

The two teams meet again in Akwasasne at Anowarako:wa Arena on Wednesday December 1 at 7:35pm.
